What is an Artist?

A question I have often asked myself is, what constitutes an artist? Within my profession I have met many fellow visual artists and often compared myself, erroneously. As with other professions, there is no "one size fits all" persona. Seeking out that persona, in my experience, is the misguided approach. Instead, simply be. Allow yourself to indulge in activities which make you happy. Study subjects that jump out at you, that make you feel as though life is not only worth living, but worth experiencing. And recognize that one of the most beautiful things about artists is their diversity. Taking these steps ensures that you have a voice among the seemingly endless sea of visual creators, a unique voice that comes from the truest part of you that can never be duplicated:)
